While the spotlight often shines on the big names in the 250 class, one rider quietly building a serious résumé is Daxton Bennick. He might not be stealing headlines just yet, but make no mistake, Bennick is a legitimate threat in the pro ranks and deserves far more attention than he’s getting.

A Decorated Amateur Career

Before turning pro, Bennick put together one of the most impressive amateur careers of the modern era. At the 2023 Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National, he dominated the Open Pro Sport class, going 1-1-1 and taking the overall win. That performance earned him the Nicky Hayden AMA Horizon Award, given to the most promising amateur poised for professional success.

His efforts didn’t stop there. He also finished second overall in the 250 Pro Sport class, rounding out a week that confirmed what many already knew: Bennick was ready to take the next step. In total, he left Loretta’s with six career titles, a feat only a handful of riders can claim.

Return to Pro Racing at Ironman

After some time away due to injury, Bennick made his return to pro motocross last weekend at Ironman Raceway. Despite having limited seat time leading up to the race, he jumped straight into the deep end, lining up against some of the most competitive riders in the sport, including Haiden Deegan, Jo Shimoda, and Tom Vialle.

In both motos, Bennick showed solid pace and composure. While he didn’t crack the top ten, just making the gate and running competitive laps was a strong statement in itself. For a young rider coming back from injury, it was a promising step forward, and a sign that more is to come.

Why He Deserves More Credit

• Proven Winner: Bennick’s amateur record speaks for itself. Multiple titles at Loretta’s and one of the most prestigious awards in amateur motocross aren’t flukes.

• Mental Toughness: Coming back from injury and immediately going bar-to-bar with top-tier talent shows his grit and mental resilience.

• Still Under the Radar: With most attention focused on factory-backed stars and title contenders, Bennick has the chance to fly under the radar, and surprise people when it counts.

The Road Ahead

Daxton Bennick may not be making headlines yet, but it’s only a matter of time. With a polished amateur background, a determined mindset, and a clear upward trajectory, he’s one breakout ride away from turning heads across the sport.

Don’t sleep on him. Bennick’s story is still being written, but if history is any indicator, the best chapters are just ahead.
